What a great weekend I had, my friend Cheryl and I left Manila Arkansas around 7am Friday and headed on our road trip to Metropolis Il. It was a pleasant drive, the weather had cleared and the sun was shining. I really liked going through Kentucky, we got to see some really pretty scenery and we crossed the Mississippi river and the Ohio river. The only scary part was the bridge on Hwy 60 that crosses the Ohio....My God it was narrow and steep...and to boot I was driving. I had the white knuckle grip on the wheel.
I rolled into Metropolis about 10am and I must say it is a very nice town. The people were very friendly and if you like to thrift shop it is a Paradise. We picked up a few items we needed or thought we couldn't live without...haha. Cheryl spotted a very nice buckskin coat but she wasn't willing to pay 50.00 for it so I told her we should go to the casino and win some money then she could come back and buy the coat. We get to the casino and I am like a kid in a candy store, there were so many good looking ladies there I could concentrate on the slot machines...lol After I got my eyes popped back into my head I found a machine and hit 60.00 then Cheryl hit for 100.00 but we got wrapped up into the casino and forgot about going back to buy the coat until after we lost the money we had just won....duh. We kicked around there for awhile and I met a young ladie and hug out with her for awhile. When I got back to the room Cheryl asked If I wanted to go swimming because the pool was open 24/7 so hell yeah, we went to the heated pool. We went back to the room and had a few drinks and turned in for the night.
Cheryl got up about 7am because she wanted to met the tour bus when it pulled into the motel. I heard her moving around so I told her to open the curtains to see if they were here and she said she already had and it wasn't there. She said that they must have meant 8am because of the time difference so I crawl out of my bed and walk over to the window and pull back the curtains and walla there was the big red bus. I walk over to where Cheryl was brushing her teeth, I put a big bear hug on her from behind and say good morning sis, then I turn her around so she could see the bus....and her knees buckled and she got all excited because her man was in town. Cheryl dates the bass player for the band. So here we go down the hall her in her shorts black long handles and bare footed lol. We get to the lobby and Doug the lead singer is there checking in, he sees Cheryl and gives her a big hug and told her that Patrick wasn't getting off the bus till noon....That little fire ball just about come unglued she told Doug that she would pick that bus up and shake him out. Then he told her he was just kidding and asked us to go to breakfast with them.
I was pretty cool we hung out with them all day and they listen to some of my music which they liked. We got our passes and went to the meet and greet with them. It was funny because there were a couple of girls that I was trying to talk to the night before and they brushed me off....lol....when they saw up walk in they started yelling at the guys in the band then they saw me....and said...oh oh we know him we saw him in the casino last night....I waved as I walked by and said yep you could have been hanging on my arm going back stage if you had talked to me...lol.
The concert was great and we had a really good time. I walked away with some writing opportunities and some new friends and I feel comfortable about Cheryl dating Pat he is a sincere man, that is important to me because Cheryl is like a sister. She wants to learn more about her native American heritage and I am her guide. We spent some of Sunday in the woods off the banks of the Ohio River gathering things for our medicine bags and had a great time. On the way home we worked on writing a couple of songs that Pat gave us the music to. It was a safe and enjoyable trip and I plan to go back often, I did meet a few girls that I will be going back to visit...lol but that's another story. Peace.
