Native Americans for thousands of years have used the herb from Mother Earth to heal sickness, to sooth the spirit and enrich the body. It is said that they watched sick animals and the animals would eat certain herbs and the First Peoples knew that it was because of the herb the animal recovered. The healers then began to use the herbs in healing the body and spirit. There are many herbs that are used in Native American medicine Pure Tobacco was one of the most sacred herb used. It was grown, havested and dried, when it was smoked it was in its purest form with no chemicals added. It was used in the rituals and ceremonies to lift the prayers of those attending to the Great Spirit.
Another important herb used was white sage, this herb had many medical uses. White sage was also used to keep the bad spirits away and used to pull the bad spirit out of the body and soul.
Willow bark, Ginsing Rosemary, garlic, wild black cherry, feverwort just to name a few were herbs very valuable to the Native American people and healer. A healer spent most of his life learning and training herbs are a very powerful gift from Mother Earth and used with much caution.
